The fine print, in plain English

Every policy like this has a 2-year waiting period. Here’s exactly how it works.

  • If you pass away from natural causes in the first 2 years, your family gets every premium dollar back plus interest — typically 7–10%. Not the full coverage amount, but never nothing.
  • Accidents are different: accidental death is typically covered for the full amount from day one.
  • After 2 years, the full benefit is paid for any cause of death. Your rate never went up, and your coverage never expires.

Every guaranteed acceptance policy works this way — including the ones on TV. They put it in the footnotes. We just say it out loud.

Why it matters

A goodbye shouldn’t come with a bill.

The median American funeral with burial is projected to cost about $10,500 in 2026. Even a simple cremation with a viewing runs around $6,300. This coverage exists for one reason: so your family grieves without reaching for their credit cards.

Common questions

Asked by almost everyone who calls.

Can I really not be turned down?

Yes — that is the whole point of guaranteed acceptance life insurance. If you are between 50 and 85, you cannot be declined. There are no health questions, no medical exam, and no records check. Your health, your medications, and your history simply are not asked about.

What is the 2-year waiting period, exactly?

Every guaranteed acceptance policy — including the ones advertised on TV — starts with a waiting period, usually the first 2 years (3 at a few carriers). If the insured person passes away from natural causes during that window, the insurance company refunds all premiums paid, typically plus 7–10% interest, instead of paying the full coverage amount. After the waiting period, the full amount is paid for any cause of death.

Is the $9.95-a-month plan on TV a good deal?

Be careful with it. That famous TV plan sells coverage in "units" — $9.95 buys one unit, but how much insurance a unit buys shrinks as you get older. At 57, one unit is roughly $1,300 of coverage; by 77 it is under $500. Most people need many units, and the math is hard to compare. We quote in plain dollars — you tell us the coverage amount, we tell you the monthly price from several carriers, and you see exactly what you are buying.

What does Senior Life Insurance Houston charge?

Nothing. Our comparison service is free, and you pay exactly the same premium as if you walked up to the insurance company directly. Agents are paid by the carrier, not by you — so comparing through us costs you nothing and usually saves you money.
